I use to play drums every night in bands. sometimes two or three years in the same night spot. I owned a music store, a recording studio, manufactured drum stuff including strange one headed drums that I could amplify. This was in the late sixties and seventies. Your life sounds like mine was at one time. I've been told that Remo tunable drums were copied from one set of tuneable miniature timpani I made - but I really don't know. It was great fun playing every night. When the crowd was really good, the harder I would play the crazier things would get - it was almost like I was in remote control of the people. Then, I would think how funny this was that I have these sticks and beat on metal and drum heads and these people get up and jump around - plus I get paid for doing this. When I thought about it, it seemed unreal and sort of tribalistic. As I played I wondered how and where dancing came from - I guess it is a carryover from some type of mating ritual. Richard Spencer
